Ultra Search: Search Files Faster in Windows

There are times when we do forget locations of files and folders in windows. In these situations windows search features comes in handy. In recent versions of windows like Vista and Windows 7 this feature is further improved with respect to search speeds and accuracy. This search mechanism uses indexing techniques by which faster searches can be made but at the same time it consumes disk space that can be large for hard disks with higher storage capacities. If you do not wish to loose disk space and want faster search results then Ultra Search will be the best choice.

Ultra Search is a windows freeware application that helps you in searching files faster than the default windows search option. It does not require indexing files that takes up disk space rather it reads Master File Table directly hence boosting search speeds on selected drives.

Apart from simple searching Ultra Search also provides various other options that makes things easier. It provides detailed information about matching files in search criteria like file name, path, size, last access and last change. You can also right click on the items found in search to use the context menu operations. You can also save this list, copy it to clipboard or take print out.

Ultra Search also provides a portable version which is extremely helpful and convenient to use on public computers. It works on all windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems.

TicClick: Allows you to place Windows in 9 position grid

TicClick is a mouse and tray utility for positioning the active window in one of the nine spots just like the positions in the game Tic Tac Toe. A mouse hotkey, Win key + Left by default brings up a small grid having 9 buttons, a ‘U’ button and a mouse button. To move a window to a particular position, first click on the button, then you will observe that your active Window has shifted its position.

The image above shows positioning of Windows in 4 positions. (You can position up to 9 positions)

If you do not see some Windows moving, then do not panic, as few Windows may not move as they have custom draw functions and insists on being dragged by mouse. The ‘U’ button of TicClick is used to Undo the last move performed and a mouse button is there to move the Window`s top left corner to the current mouse position.

This nifty little application comes handy when you need to open various Windows; handling all the Windows and then switching from one to other can be irritating. Using this TicClick, you can place the Windows in different positions, thus allowing you ease to perform the required task.

TicClick is a freeware having a file size of 243KB. It runs very well on all Windows operating system.
